FCBLT Default Inventory CREATE Physical Records ALL FOR MULTIPLE HOLDINGS AND ITEMS - with no match

Introduction

This job profile can be used to import records for physical items. There is no match. It is assumed that the records being imported are NEW.

Expected Behavior of this Job Profile

This job will create:

• Instance record

• MARC SRS

• FOLIO Holdings Records

• FOLIO Item Records

Once the records are created, the MARC srs bibliographic record will be updated to remove the field used to create the multiple holdings and items, or the 949.

• MarcEdit Validation: Use MarcEdit to perform both structural and standards-based validation before importing.

🏷️ Container Codes

• Structure: Begin with your institution’s prefix (e.g., UMSPR, FCJSTOROA).

• Uniqueness: Ensure the container code is not already in use.

• Suffix: Typically followed by a unique alphanumeric string (e.g., OCLC number).

This field is crucial for creating holdings and item records in FOLIO.

• Item Barcode

• Holdings Location code (must match FOLIO exactly)

• Item status

• Item Material type

• Holdings call number type

• Holdings call number prefix

• Holdings call number

• Holdings call number suffix

All terms must match FOLIO’s controlled vocabulary exactly.

🧩 Record Creation Scenarios

1. One Holdings + One Item

• Use one 949 field with all required holdings and item data.

2. One Holdings + Multiple Items

• First 949: Full holdings + first item data.

• Subsequent 949s: Only location code (to link to holdings) + item data.

3. Multiple Holdings + Multiple Items

• Each holdings record: Full data in its own 949.

• Items linked to each holdings: Additional 949s with location code + item data.
