Offline Circulation procedures

In the case of a major system outage that affects circulation, circulation staff should follow these procedures

  1. Notify the FCLSC or backup of the issue

  2. Indicate on any self check machines that users should come to circulation desks to checkout materials

  3. Circulation staff should scan User Barcode and Item barcode into a Spreadsheet

  4. When circulation is available, the user should use the checkout module to enter the saved patron barcode and item barcode

  5. Returned items should be stored until the system is restored

  6. The time for any returned reserve, equipment, or other hourly loan item returned during the down period should be noted.  When the item is checked in, any overdue fees assigned to the patron should be waived with the reason of “System down event”
